Self drive. We will recommend one day tours in Scotland to show you the variety of scenery and interesting places within easy reach. There are many options ( see below) and you can do a series based in Edinburgh or Glasgow which will let you see most of the Scottish mainland. We will arrange car hire and prepare a detailed itinerary.
Chauffeur/Guide. The driver will know the country and the places to visit in Scotland. you have an idea of what you wish to see we design the tour accordingly. Please see below for some suggestions.
A whole day tour can take you to Loch Ness and back - it is a long way (about 7 hours driving) and in the top months - July and August, the roads can be a bit busy. But it does let you see a big range of scenery. Royal Deeside and the Queens holiday home at Balmoral is nearer but again allow about 6 hours driving time.



Stirling Castle and lovely Perthshire lochs
Pass Linlithgow Palace, birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots, Bannockburn, scene of the 1314 Battle between Scots and English, to Stirling Castle. Then see Wallace ( Braveheart) monument before driving through Rob Roy country - the lochs and hill of Perthshires. Return by Glen Turret distillery (and sample the whisky if you must), Drummond Castle with its lovely formal gardens and by Gleneagles of golfing fame to Glendevon and back to Edinbugh.

St. Andrews and East Neuk 
Old Course, the Golf Museum, Cathedral, Castle: Falkland Palace, a few miles from St. Andrews and the fishing harbours of Anstruther, Pittenweem and Crail.

Scottish Borders
Softer countryside, many castles, abbeys, large mansion houses and gardens. See the ancestral residence of the Duke of Roxburgh or perhaps the Silver Staircase at Manderton House or Sir Walter Scott's house at Abbotsford.

Loch Lomond and Firth of Clyde
" By yon Bonnie Banks " the famous loch with Ben Lomond rising from it. Various options -west to Inveraray, Duke of Argyll's Castle, Crarae Gardens or north to Crianlarich and back by Killin ( Falls of Dochart) and Loch Tay

Hills Lochs and Glens
North by Glendevon and Gleneagles to Crieff. Stop to tour the whisky distillery, then through Sma (small) glen to Aberfeldy and Loch Tay. Over Schiehallion to Loch Tummel (Queens View) and on to Blair Castle, ancestral home of the Duke of Atholl. Return by Dunkeld, Perth and Loch Leven.

Edinburgh city. You can spend a whole day on an Edinburgh tour to see Edinburgh Castle, The Royal Mile, the Palace of Holyrood, the Royal Yacht Brittania, Princes Street Gardens and all the Art Galleries, Museums, and presentations which go on in a vibrant city. In August the city resonates to the Edinburgh International Festival and to the Tattoo. You may wish a car for part of the day but most places and events are within walking distance.
